Food Manufacturers
Tracing the environmental impact of multi-ingredient food products requires us to track the production practices and processing of each ingredient that is contained within ‘said’ product. As most of the ingredients contained in products originate from multiple farms, across several countries, tracking and measuring environmental performance becomes complex; requiring extensive research and smart technology. Ingredients are sourced from farms, countries and regions with differing characteristics. For example, differences in climates, farming practices, age of machinery and energy usage, must all be taken into account when examining overall environmental impact of multi-ingredient food products. At TrackCarbon, we help food manufacturers and processors to trace, track and measure environmental impact across four key stressors: land use, freshwater use, water scarcity (weighted by use), and greenhouse gas emissions. We are now looking at examining eutrophication potential of farmed products to ascertain a more holistic view of a product’s impact.
Product + Labelling
Food manufacturers offer both ‘branded’ and ‘white label products’ to their customers. At TrackCarbon we help manufacturers to track and measure impact across four environmental stressors, and then provide each product with an environmental impact score from A-E. This rating can be via a label on the packaging of the product or can be accessed via a QR Code.
As a partner of GS1 UK, and QR partner advisory group member, TrackCarbon understands the best practice guidelines for creating GS1 Digital Link QR codes.

Packaging
Easily track the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the packaging of your food products—whether it’s plastic, paper, glass, or compostable materials. Our platform helps you identify which packaging components contribute the most to your carbon footprint, giving you the data needed to make more sustainable choices. From primary packaging to shipping containers, get a clear view of your packaging emissions across the entire product lifecycle.
Transportation and Logistics
Our logistics model tracks the route of your product from farm (primary producer) to point of sale. We provide an impact score for each route which allows you to gain insights into the most environmentally friendly manufacturing sites, and distribution locations. Plus, identify your best performing suppliers.
